How GO&S Can Help You

GO&S is a University-wide resource focused on coordinating with and supporting all campuses, departments and personnel on issues related to international operations, and security, including export compliance, finance/tax, international collaboration and other high risk activities and programs.

  • Assists KU personnel in establishing a safe academic and research environment that enforces/adheres to applicable export and security policies and principles while maintaining global contact and relevance
  • Provide awareness of KU, State, and Federal policies and regulations to mitigate risks
  • Assist in the identification of vulnerabilities and threats to KU personnel, facilities, information and technology
  • Understand reporting requirements

Areas of Interest / Coordination:

  • Export control and compliance
  • University-wide security management and planning
  • Research and contract compliance as it pertains to U.S. Government regulatory guidelines

Risk, export, and security reviews of the following transactions:

  • International agreements, including research agreements
  • International travel (students, faculty and staff)
  • International students (visa applications, federal requirements, etc.)
  • International visitors (affiliates, visiting researchers or scholars, etc.)
  • International purchasing and shipping (customs regulations, international taxes, etc.)
  • Research grants/contracts with security and export related requirements
  • ​Research laboratories and facilities
